UPDATE: This rainbarrel promotion is over but you can still buy a rainbarrel and receive a rebate through the link below.
The Ventura County Community for a Clean Watershed has a special rainbarrel rebate promotion going on now. You can receive up to four almost FREE* rainbarrels by clicking this link and entering your address to see if you qualify for the rebate.
Here is the small print – The rainbarrels cost $75 plus tax. Shipping is included and we will be doing the handling during the distribution – so if you qualify for the rebate you just have to cover the tax! After your purchase, you may apply for the $75 per rainbarrel rebate. The rebate does not cover the cost of the sales tax. Verification of eligibility, rainbarrel purchasing and rebate applications are all through the above link. The rainbarrels must be ordered by May 8, 2016 at 11:00pm and your rainbarrels must be picked up in Moorpark or Ventura on May 14th at the times and locations below.
You can view a sample rainbarrel like you would be purchasing at the Thousand Oaks Library main lobby and the Newbury Park Library main lobby. The USA-made rainbarrel made of 100% recycled plastic has a 50 gallon capacity and measures 42.5″H x 22.5″D. A bug-proof screen keeps out mosquitoes and other pests, and it has a child-proof locking lid. The 3/4″ ball valve easily connects to a standard garden hose. There are two built-in overflow ports. Primary overflow directs water away from the foundation. The rainbarrels nest inside each other for easy storage and transportation, and two rainbarrels easily fit in the back seat of a 4-door sedan. The rainbarrel easily attaches to your home’s downspout and it is gravity fed, so no pumps are required.
Though we haven’t seen much of El Nino yet, we could still get more rain in the next few months or perhaps some surprise summer storms. If you have rainbarrels in your yard, you can easily collect water from your raingutter downspouts and reuse it for your garden during drier times! Even if El Nino does not hit Southern California this winter as predicted, a rainbarrel is something you can use year round for years to come.
*You must pay sales tax on the rainbarrels.
