The public is invited to the 20th Annual Thousand Oaks Arbor/Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 8th, from 10am to 3pm at Thousand Oaks Community Park (next to Thousand Oaks High School) at 2525 N. Moorpark Rd. This free zero waste, family-friendly celebration will feature over 90 eco-friendly exhibitors and free workshops providing tips and products to help families to “Go Green”. In addition, there will be children’s arts and crafts, plant sales and giveaways from local garden clubs, wild animal exhibits, a bike rodeo and valet (with free bike helmet giveaway for the kids) and food trucks. The Mayor will give a welcome introduction for this 20th year milestone for Arbor Earth Day, and following that will be a Chumash blessing by Chumash elder, Dennis Garcia. Entertainment this year features performance by Brooke White (American indie pop/folk-pop singer-songwriter and American Idol finalist). A local resident and festival favorite, White appeared on the seventh season of the television program and released the album, High Hopes & Heartbreak.
A world-acclaimed acrobatic Stunt Dog Team featuring Kyra Sundance & Chalcy will give energetic and humorous performances and the Moorpark Teaching Zoo will once again educate us about some amazing animals. Kyra will also greet fans and answer questions about dog training at her booth. The rock cover band Copycats Rock will delight the crowd with 60s and 70s hits, from the Rolling Stones to Bob Dylan.
